Chair Klein told members that planned training after the meeting will be rescheduled for Aug. 11 because town counsel could not attend tonight. He asked members to review a memorandum on statutory changes that affect notification, vested rights for special permits, and amendments to the variance standard.
Members noted they had seen short summaries prepared by law firms and a Michigan memo that may provide useful background. The chair said he would circulate the materials so members can prepare questions for counsel. The training will cover how the statutory changes affect vote thresholds and application processing and the board aims to use the Aug. 11 session to receive legal guidance.
