Food-service budget remains balanced as district reports serving over 202,000 meals

The board reviewed the food-service budget, which the chief financial officer described as balanced after amendment and largely unchanged for next year. "Our food service budget, at this time, we're going to amend, a balanced budget," Irene Byrne said.
Byrne said the district served more than 202,000 meals this year between breakfast and lunch and expects to continue offering breakfast and lunch to preschoolers through grade 12 if state policy supporting universal free meals proceeds. Board members clarified that meals for the three-year-old program were covered from another account this year and that enhancement funds are planned to help continue coverage next year.
