Commission approves vehicle-use agreement and hospital MOU to support quick response team

Tim Zaya, director of community corrections, described two items supporting a quick response team that the county has operated since 2020: a vehicle-use agreement and an MOU with Brooklyn Medical. "We have been providing a vehicle for that purpose since the very beginning... It's been very successful," Zaya said, explaining that the county owns and maintains the vehicle and invoices the health department monthly to cover the cost instead of the department renting a vehicle.
Zaya said the MOU does not change clinical work or create financial transactions between the county and the hospital; it merely formalizes referrals and medical-clearance practices used to place people into inpatient programs. The commission moved, seconded and approved both the vehicle-use agreement and the MOU and authorized the chair to sign the documents.
