Board approves 2024–25 year-end general fund amendment and adopts 2025–26 general fund budget

The board voted to adopt an adjusted 2024–25 year-end amendment to the general fund and then approved the 2025–26 general fund budget resolution after presentations and brief discussion.
Irene Byrne, the district’s chief financial officer (introduced at the hearing), said revenues for the amended 2024–25 budget rose because of a one-time transfer for capital projects and the recent sale of a house. "Some of that is also because we did end up with the sale of the house you'll see tonight," Byrne said, explaining why the amendment changed since the last meeting. Byrne reported per-pupil spending at 9,608 and total enrollment of 441 students and said the district will continue to carry 80 FTE teachers into next year with no reductions in teaching staff.
Byrne told the board the 2025–26 budget is based on an 18-mill levy and state aid, assumes roughly $400 more per pupil in state funding in current executive and senate proposals, and includes a planned $493,005.61 draw from fund balance. A board member asked how the $400 figure was derived; Byrne said it aligned with the executive and senate proposals and that the House proposal differed, noting the district will return to the board if the state numbers change.
The motions were made and adopted by voice/hand vote; the Chair called for aye votes and the board approved the amendments and budget resolutions.
