Lilburn DDA approves $68,500 contract with Place Maker Design for Main and First buildings

The Lilburn Downtown Development Authority voted 5-0 on May 13 to approve Contract 2026-25 with Place Maker Design, authorizing construction document and construction administration services for two commercial buildings at Main and First in an amount not to exceed $68,500. The motion, made by Amy Valdez-Barker and seconded by Scott Mecredy, included a condition that the DDA chairman review and approve the final contract and sign on behalf of the authority.

Board members said coordination between design consultants will be essential as the project advances. During the preceding work session the board emphasized that "it is critical for Tim Vacaro, Place Maker Design, to work with lan Lockwood, Toole Design, to recommend a site plan and building that addresses the vision for Main Street," and asked staff to provide the contract scope for review. Staff confirmed the scope was included in the estimate and the contract was brought forward for approval with the chairman's final sign-off.

The contract covers preparation of construction documents and construction administration for the two identified commercial buildings; the board approved the motion without recorded dissent. The approval is intended to move the assemblage and Main Street development work into the next design phase; the contract will be finalized following the chair's review.
