Mayor Dennis Regan reported to the Common Council that the July 4 Day Parade "had a good turnout despite being a little wet," and relayed City Administrator Steve Volkert's direction that residents should "contact the Police Department if you see anyone putting on their own show within the City Limits" regarding illegal private fireworks. The remarks came during the Mayor's report at the July 14 meeting.
During aldermanic requests, Alderperson Kirley provided an update on the July Police and Fire Commission meeting and thanked Festival Foods for sponsoring that year's fireworks. Alderperson Garza encouraged residents to visit the Hartford Museum during Maxwell Street Days, and Alderperson Pechacek commented that he enjoyed the event. These remarks were informational and no council action was recorded on these items.
