Service and operations updates: Pineway/Bagley restoration, Sussex/Willow bids, new fire engine outfitting

Service Director reported pipe installation complete on Pineway/Bagley with restoration expected in about six weeks and grass by Fourth of July; bids for Sussex and Willow areas are being solicited; interim fire chief reported a new engine is in service though outfitting and lights remain pending.
Service Director Joe Borczuch told council that sanitary pipe has been installed for the Pineway/Bagley project and that crews "will start restoration next week and should be completed in about a month and a half," including sidewalks, driveway aprons and grass that he expects to be down around the Fourth of July period. He said five firms submitted proposals for Columbia Road design and that CVE was selected to prepare a scope and estimate for ODOT review. Borczuch also said he hopes to have bids this week for work in the Sussex and Willow areas.
Interim Fire Chief Randy Kimbro said the new fire engine went into service the prior Saturday but some minor equipment remains to be fitted; he estimated four to five weeks before the new chief's vehicle is fully in service after lights and siren installation. Council also discussed parking and logistics to complete Sussex/Willow work more quickly by offering temporary parking on Fernwood for affected residents during construction.
