Resident tells council multiple construction projects are straining emergency access near school

Meredith Janik, an Olmsted Township resident, told the Olmsted Falls City Council during public comment that multiple simultaneous construction projects near the local school are creating dangerous traffic congestion that could block emergency vehicles. "He felt not just his ambulance but emergency services would not be able to get between the day care center and Falls Lenox around the traffic," Janik said, describing what a private ambulance worker told her.
Janik said she saw traffic back up at noon near Mapleway and Usher while parents were trying to get children to school and that six projects in the area appear uncoordinated. Council members acknowledged some of the projects lie in Olmsted Township rather than the city but said the city can still press county-level partners for coordination. Council President Garry Thompson and others encouraged Janik to reach out to township trustees; Councilwoman Megan Coy also suggested contacting county officials. No formal action was taken; council members said they would note residents' concerns and urged continued public reporting to responsible agencies.
