Commission adopts rezones, vacates county road and fills East Garland Cemetery board

The Box Elder County commission handled several routine land‑use and administrative items on May 27.
Community Development Director Scott Lyons explained Ordinance 6‑56 repeals and replaces Ordinance 6‑49 to remove a 15‑acre parcel that was inadvertently included in a prior legal description; the commission adopted 6‑56. Lyons then presented Ordinance 6‑52 to vacate a mapped county right‑of‑way (53400 West and 27200 North in the Clear Creek area) after the planning commission recommendation; the commission approved the road vacate. The commission also adopted Ordinance 6‑53 to rezone approximately 514 acres in Riverside/Fielding/Plymouth to the Agricultural Heritage Zone, following a planning commission recommendation and no public opposition.
The clerk presented four applicants for the East Garland Cemetery board; Commissioner Perry moved to appoint Corey Ballard, Larry Hess and Colleen Shaffer as the three voting members and designate Dave Shaffer as a non‑voting alternate/secretary; the motion passed. Commissioner Perry also moved, and the commission approved, a letter of appreciation for the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Utah recognizing local volunteer and shelter support.
Lyons summarized the technical purpose of the zoning correction: "This essentially repeals and replaces Ordinance 649" to fix the legal description and re‑adopt the intended zoning, and staff said the rezones are consistent with the general plan and available services.
