City Engineer Jared told council that the city's Envision ID GIS data (an ArcGIS/Esri product) must move to a cloud-based subscription, and that conversion carries an annual cost estimated at $8,000.
"There is a cost, to ArcGIS or Esri, and that is $8,000 to convert it over to the new system," Jared said, adding that staff will look at the city's number of licenses to reduce the seat count if possible. Council discussed turnaround time and licensing; Jared estimated conversion could be completed within a couple of weeks once authorized. The motion to convert and pay the annual subscription passed 4-0.
Staff said the cloud-based service offers improved functionality and that the city currently hosts the data on local servers; the change will move the data to Esri's online environment with associated subscription fees.
