Council sets March 10 public hearing on wastewater facility plan for regionalization

City Engineer Jared presented a regional wastewater facility plan and council adopted Resolution No. 2025-04 to call a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency–required public hearing on March 10, 2025, moving the facility-plan process forward; vote was unanimous.
City Engineer Jared told the council the facility plan for regionalization with Annandale, Maple Lake and the Howard Lake Wastewater Commission requires an MPCA public hearing. "We are recommending that council hold that hearing on 03/10/2025," he said, and provided draft resolutions in the meeting packet.
Council moved to adopt Resolution No. 2025-04, calling the hearing on the facility plan; the motion passed 4-0. Jared said the resolutions in the packet would move the facility-plan process forward and that staff would be available to answer questions ahead of the hearing.
The hearing will give residents an opportunity to review and comment on the facility plan before the council considers final action. No final adoption of the facility plan occurred at this meeting; the hearing date was scheduled to satisfy MPCA procedural requirements.
