Kevin Libby relayed a public-health advisory from Beaufort County Emergency Medical Services warning of high temperatures across the low country this weekend and an extreme heat advisory that could push the heat index to 115 degrees Fahrenheit. "We remain under an extreme heat advisory with a heat index reaching a 115 degrees Fahrenheit," Libby said in the bulletin. The EMS message encouraged residents to check on elderly neighbors and anyone vulnerable to heat, to bring pets indoors, and to limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
Libby also repeated practical advice circulated by EMS, including carrying a reusable water bottle and ensuring adequate hydration. A Facebook link for Beaufort County EMS was provided in the bulletin (transcript: facebook.com/bufordcountyemergencymedicalservices) for further information.
