Twin Pines project manager David Ormiston asks trustees to allow Melishwood resident parking at East End Park

David Ormiston, identified in the record as the Twin Pines Housing project manager for the Melishwood senior housing project, asked Woodstock trustees on June 18 for permission to use East End Park to park resident vehicles while on-site construction and site work continue.

"The ask here, obviously, is to park 14 vehicles at the East End Park, would be ideal for us," Ormiston said, describing the project as a two-year, two-phase development that is about halfway through phase one. He said the site currently houses about 20 residents and that the completed building will have 28 units, which he estimated could produce roughly 14 vehicles needing off-site parking.

Ormiston told trustees roof and framing work is underway and that some rear buildings have been demolished as part of phase 1. He said construction phasing and drainage, sidewalks and parking-lot work will make it impractical to keep all resident vehicles on-site once those activities intensify. He asked for a decision as soon as possible to coordinate phasing.

On winter maintenance and plowing concerns, Ormiston said Twin Pines would continue looking for alternative parking partners but offered a fee to offset municipal impacts: "we would be willing to pay a fee, a per parking or a per space fee ... maybe a $100,150 dollars per per space per month," he said. Trustees agreed to place the item on the agenda for the board's next meeting in July and asked Ormiston to attend for further discussion.

The trustees paused the parking discussion so they could proceed to a scheduled executive session.
