Residents and mayor say Webster lost post office; town exploring alternatives

An emailed public comment from resident Louise Runyon expressed concern that Webster is losing its post office and asked whether any alternate location might be possible. "She reiterated her concern about Webster losing the post office and would like to know if there is any possibility of an alternate location for the post office," the board was told during informal comments.
Mayor Tracy Rodes reported the Southwestern Commission (SWCDC) and the U.S. Postal Service discussed a lease for space at the old school, but a USPS architect determined the space would not work without structural renovations. Mayor Rodes said "the USPS design team had requests for major structural modifications that the SWCDC could not accommodate due to the historic designation of the building, as well as not being financially feasible." She said the USPS would consider a mobile location if an appropriate site and space were found, and that she will follow up with SWCDC and provide an update at the next meeting.
