Nurses and board members debated whether the medical director should sign orders for injectable medications. A public-health nurse clarified the distinction: B12 can be provided in the community under a physician’s order, but “the medical director is not gonna be the one giving the order,” and the medical director’s contract will not authorize that ordering role. Participants also cited insurance and cost concerns: one speaker estimated the inclusion of injectables could increase contract costs by roughly four-fold (from a low‑tens‑of‑thousands figure to the mid‑forties of thousands per year). The group agreed to finalize and sign the contract before attempting scope expansion.
