Staff told the commission that the insurance company "would strongly advise that the city does not allow an event to be held in there until we can have our adjuster come through and have somebody, they probably will recommend a structural engineer to come through and look at the state of that building," and commissioners cited the need to keep people away from areas where beams and roofing had been disturbed. After voices supporting continued short-term use and others urging full inspection, the commission voted and the chair stated, "It passed." The meeting adjourned immediately afterward.
