Asotin County adopts ordinance limiting consumer fireworks to July 4

The Asotin County Board of Commissioners on June 29 adopted Ordinance No. 26-21, which restricts consumer fireworks in unincorporated Asotin County. Building Official and County Planner Karst Riggers and Asotin County Fire Chief Noel Hardin presented the ordinance, which prohibits consumer fireworks on New Year's Eve and on July 3 and July 5 and allows consumer fireworks only on July 4 from 12:00 p.m. to midnight; a revised boundary line is included and the ordinance will take effect in 2027.
All public comments recorded with the presentation were reported as in favor of the proposal. Commissioner Brian Shinn moved to approve the ordinance and Commissioner Charles Whitman seconded; the motion carried. The transcript does not record a roll-call tally.
