Republic Services: White Oak Landfill handled 212,468 tons in FY 2024–25; royalties total $242,493

Stoddard Picker, environmental manager for Republic Services' Western North Carolina unit, presented the White Oak Landfill annual report for fiscal year 2024–25 and provided tonnage, royalty and airspace figures. "Total combined tons for this last fiscal year was 212,468 tons," Picker said, and he noted about 13,500 tons of material recovered during the year.
Picker reported royalty payments of $242,493 for the fiscal year and total royalties since the contract began at just under $1.4 million. He said the landfill's permanent airspace under current conditions is a little more than 9,300,000 cubic yards, with roughly 5,400,000 cubic yards of projected remaining permanent airspace.
Picker described current operations in Cell 5B and estimated remaining life expectancy as of May 2025 at just shy of 20 years at the current in‑place density. He also outlined Phase 6 plans (a 6.4‑acre cell adding about 840,000 cubic yards of airspace) and related capital work.
