The Kerman City Council on June 10 adopted the City’s fiscal year 2026–2027 operating and capital budgets and approved amendments to the FY 2025–2026 budget, voting 3-0-0-2 to carry the measures.
Council also approved a resolution authorizing the number of employee positions and titles; the resolution establishing the Appropriations Limit was continued for consideration at the June 24, 2026 meeting. Councilmember Hall moved the budget-related motions and Councilmember Dhaliwal seconded; the votes recorded were Ayes: Hall, Dhaliwal, Pacheco; Absent: Yep, Herrera. The action appears as Res. 26-34 (budget) and Res. 26-35 (positions/titles) in the meeting minutes.
Why it matters: the adopted budgets set City spending priorities for operating programs and capital projects in the coming fiscal year and authorize staffing levels the City will recruit for and fund. The Appropriations Limit—required under state law—will be finalized at the June 24 meeting. No public comments were recorded on the budget during this meeting.
