During the meeting the petitioner read a July 27 note indicating the placement of a detention basin could require grading that would extend into a 30-foot rear-yard setback. Planning staff recommended moving the basin away from the property line where possible to reduce neighbor impacts and to preserve existing vegetation.
"I would encourage you to consider as much separation from the property line as possible," planning staff said, and noted that a small engineered retaining wall could help maintain tree lines while meeting detention needs. The petitioner acknowledged that specific stormwater calculations have not yet been performed and that basin size and location will be determined during engineering.
