A developer representing Cornerstone Development presented a preliminary concept to the City of Wildwood Development and Zoning Review Committee for a roughly 4-acre property on Manchester Road that would contain two complementary uses: Carruthers Academy preschool and an indoor gymnastics facility operated by High NRG.
"So it's a it's approximately 4 acre site, and we're looking at developing 2 separate uses," the developer explained, adding that Carruthers Academy would operate daytime hours while the gym would serve evening programs. Committee members asked clarifying questions about parking, potential lot consolidation and how the site would adhere to Town Center standards.
Planning staff stressed the informal nature of the presentation and that public comment would be solicited once the project proceeds through formal submission. Staff also provided aerials, Town Center plan excerpts and a summary of regulatory expectations to guide the petitioner’s next steps.
The petitioner said the plan now calls for shared parking initially with the option to split the parcel later so each operator could own its facility. Staff and council members signaled general support for family-oriented uses while flagging topics—detention location, building materials and frontage orientation—that will require detailed review in later hearings.
