Planning division reports full staffing; interviews set for general plan consultants

The Planning Manager told the commission the planning division is once again fully staffed after recent personnel changes and promotions.
"I'm pleased to announce that the planning division is fully staffed for the 1st time in a little bit of, at least 6 to 8 months," the Planning Manager said, noting promotions and hires including Bailey Paczynski, who was promoted from an intern to Planner I, and a new Planner II, Sylvia Willem, who most recently worked for the City of Surprise.
Staff said interviews of three finalists for the city's general plan update consultant will begin Thursday. The manager described the state-mandated general plan update as a major, multi-year process and asked commissioners to expect future workshops and to consider volunteering for an advisory role.
The manager also reminded the commission that, as of the meeting, the next scheduled meeting on Aug. 11 had no items and commissioners should expect that date to be largely free of business.
