Police Chief Kevin DeGoo (S8) told council the department’s current tasers and cameras are out of support and ineligible for replacement cartridges and that technology‑fund dollars are available to cover two years of a proposed five‑year contract. Chief DeGoo said his goal is to use grants and the technology fund so no general taxpayer funds would be required; if grant funding is not secured, the department will seek a budget amendment.
Council approved item 24‑062 unanimously. The chief said the department is already applying for reimbursement grants and will return next month with grant results and any budget requests if needed.
