Commission promulgates Ottawa County Emergency Operations Plan

The Ottawa County Commission approved a proclamation to promulgate the county Emergency Operations Plan and forward it to the Kansas Department of Emergency Management for final acceptance.
The commissioner who presented the plan noted it had been approved at state level for acceptance and stressed the county retains the plan and can update it on the KS planner. ‘‘It’s our plan, not the state’s. We can change it to whatever we want, whenever we want,’’ the sheriff told the commission during the presentation.
Commissioners voted by voice to approve the proclamation so staff could finalize and file the plan with the state; the board also agreed to retain a printed copy in the county’s files once the document is fully processed.
