Superintendent Dr. Chanel Segura reported that the district's community survey on calendar options had received 1,288 responses so far and — using the responses collected to date — indicated strong community interest in a four‑day school week. "The survey results up to this point indicate a strong preference for the 4 day calendar option," Segura said, and she added that she will present a detailed recommendation at the next board meeting on Feb. 25.
Segura emphasized staffing and contractual constraints that would determine how a four‑day model is implemented, including state statute limitations on required instructional minutes and the need to ensure hourly employees are not unpaid by moving to alternate schedules. She said the district is looking at models that either extend daily hours or reassign planning time and that further analysis will include attendance, student services continuity and impacts on athletics and extracurricular scheduling.
