Dr. Chanel Segura told the board the district is in active hiring season and listed vacancies the district continues to recruit for, including a first‑grade teacher, special education teachers (including preschool nurture), a welding instructor for CTE, and program support roles. She noted the district recently hired a counselor and a speech therapist and has filled two bus-driver positions that are in training.
Segura said long‑term substitutes are covering several classrooms while permanent hiring is finalized: "So right now, we have a long term sub in the 1st grade and bilingual, we built that," she said. Board members asked about supervision for the new warehouse/delivery hire and inventory controls; Segura said the facilities and maintenance team will supervise that role and pledged to ensure the new hire has clear processes and support.
