Caribbean Crusade for Christ Worldwide will hold a back-to-school giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 8, starting at 10 a.m. at Southwest High School in High Point, host Rodney Dawson said in an interview with CEO and president Rena Comer. Comer said the event will distribute book bags and supplies to students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Comer told Talk City Greensboro that the organization expanded its target audience beyond earlier K–6 giveaways after seeing rising needs among older students. "Bringing hope for a brighter future," she said when asked to describe the group's mission. Organizers said they will provide generalized supplies appropriate to each age group and have previously donated larger door prizes, including a computer donated through a partner organization.
Comer thanked Southwest High School leadership for providing space and logistical support, naming Principal Derek Bracy and assistant principal Toby Blair. The event is offered alongside exhibitor booths that will provide educational resources — not sales — and family-friendly activities. Comer said the group has run similar outreach since 2012 and this year’s back-to-school giveaway is the fourth iteration of this particular event.
For questions about the event, Comer provided a contact phone number in the interview (336-423-3478) and said donations can be mailed to PO Box 194, Oak Ridge, NC 27314; she also cited a Cash App option while the group's website is being revamped.
