The Randolph County Commission voted unanimously on Dec. 19 to approve a one-year maintenance agreement with Frontier for phones and lines at the 911 Center covering Nov. 2024–Nov. 2025 at a cost of $43,856.98. 911/OEM Director Mike Miller told the commission there was not money in the 911/OEM budget to cover the expense.
Earlier in the meeting Miller reported that on Dec. 6 a 911 Center employee slipped on ice in the center's parking lot, was taken by ambulance to Davis Medical Center and then transported to Morgantown after suffering a cerebral bleed. Miller said the employee "has returned to work but she is still having good days and bad days." The director presented the maintenance agreement and the commission approved it by motion.
Commissioners discussed budgeting for recurring 911 costs and noted that future budgets must account for these contract expenses; the motion passed unanimously.
