Long Prairie reports dewatering underway at main lift station; engineer flags possible contamination

City Engineer Kent Louwagie told the council dewatering for the main lift station project started this week and will continue through most of the project; he cautioned there could be possible contamination that staff will monitor. Louwagie also said the city has begun applying for a lead service line inventory grant and needs to ensure grant compliance to secure reimbursement.
Louwagie reported the Riverside Park project has incurred $2,600 in additional engineer fees above the original estimate and asked permission to continue the work and re-budget the grant to cover the extra cost. Council discussion acknowledged the multi-year grant and the stipulations that accompany it. "The grant needs to be re-budgeted to allocate the accounts for these additional fees that weren’t in the initial plan."
