The City Council voted to introduce (first reading) a city-initiated zoning code amendment to modify height limits on Williamsburg Lane.
Staff reviewed the recent amendments to Title 17 and explained the proposed Ordinance No. 390 would apply only to Williamsburg Lane. The proposal would preserve a one-story limit and set a 25-foot maximum ridge/peak height for lots on Williamsburg Lane while retaining different citywide limits elsewhere. Staff noted community association CC&R language for Williamsburg similarly defines height using ridge/pitch measurements: "no building shall be erected, constructed, altered, or maintained with a height in excess of 1 story and basement no more than a height of 25 feet," a passage read into the record from materials provided by the Rolling Hills Community Association.
Council members asked whether CC&R definitions align with the city’s measurement method (staff said the association uses ridge/pitch height and staff followed that language) and discussed why 25 feet was chosen. After discussion a council member moved to accept introduction and first reading of Ordinance No. 390; the motion was seconded and carried on voice vote.
