Council approves Burnside Ridge modification to allow narrower sidewalk in northern section

The Meridian City Council approved a request to modify a development-agreement provision for Burnside Ridge Estates (file H2026-0019), allowing a 5-foot detached sidewalk rather than the 10-foot multi-use pathway required by the original agreement along the east side of the northern portion of the collector street.
Planning staff said the applicant proposed constructing the full collector-street section in the northern portion of the site rather than the reduced half-street typical for similar developments, and staff recommended approval of the modification on that basis. Jeff Bauer, representing Tresidio Homes and speaking for the applicant, told the council he and the applicant agreed with staff's recommendation and would stand for questions. The council closed the public hearing and approved the modification by unanimous vote.
Staff noted the modification retains safety benefits through alternate measures — full collector construction in the northern area and on-street striped bicycle travel lanes — while accommodating lot-depth constraints that would result if the required 10-foot pathway were provided in the original alignment.
