District outlines staffing, special-education and transportation supports for reassigned students

After presenting the recommendation, the administration detailed how it expects to support reassigned students at the receiving campuses. Segura said operations and teaching-and-learning teams will support master-schedule rework, counseling and special-education continuity, and that stipends for moving teachers will be honored.
Segura listed specific allocations: "We're expecting that Bailey will receive 10 special education teacher allocations, 1 dyslexia interventionist allocation, and 3 teacher assistants. Mendez... 5 special education teacher allocations, 1 dyslexia interventionist allocation and 4 teacher assistants," he said. He also told trustees transportation will be provided for students living more than two miles away or across hazardous thoroughfares and that hub locations will be released on Aug. 3.
District leaders promised to preserve students' course requests where possible, deploy central teams to help rework master schedules, and provide meet-and-greets and orientation events in early August.
