Mary Westfall elected president as council holds organizational meeting
Summary
At the Jan. 5 organizational meeting Mayor Mark Frey administered oaths and the council unanimously elected Mary Westfall as president of council for the next two years. Council also approved committee assignments and posted them for public view.
Mayor Mark Frey called the organizational meeting to order and the clerk took roll; a quorum of seven council members was present. Judge Mike Bonfiglio administered oaths of office to members elected in November; after nominations, Mary Westfall accepted and was confirmed as president of council by unanimous voice vote.
Westfall then read and moved approval of committee assignments and community-organization liaisons (including the Sylvania Area Joint Recreation District and Downtown Sylvania Association), which the council approved without change and agreed would be posted online. The council set a committee-of-the-whole meeting for Jan. 20 to discuss administrative contract-authority language in pending ordinances.
