911 director reports aging equipment after tower work; commissioners hear of a Nexstar carriage dispute

Mike Miller, 911/OEM director, told commissioners that Motorola technicians were at the 911 center to update the Siron dispatch network and that crews had to use a snow cat to reach the Rich Mountain tower; Miller said the snow cat lost power and crews spent most of the night recovering equipment. He warned the county has a lot of 911 equipment that is going out of date and needs attention.
Commission President David Kesling raised constituent questions about local television channels being removed from the lineup and asked whether only one station can serve the county. Robbie Morris, present at the meeting, called the situation a contract dispute with Nexstar Media Group. No formal action was taken; commissioners noted the issue as a community concern to monitor.
