Randolph County sheriff reports 6,973 calls, 171 arrests in last year

Sheriff Elbon gave the Commission his office’s year‑end report during the Jan. 16 meeting, saying "they had 6,973 calls for service," 578 recorded offenses and 171 arrests for the year.
He reported 377 motor vehicle crashes, 1,698 traffic stops with 768 warnings and 509 citations, 49 transports, and described the activity of the two K‑9 officers, Nicky and Twix. When Commissioner Chris Siler asked how many deputies the sheriff currently has, Elbon responded there are 18 deputies and that Deputy Waldron is on a one‑year military leave.
