Select Board reduces Ranch Camp bill after town spot reading and staff estimate

Nate Bryant, co-owner of Ranch Camp, described receiving a water bill that reflected readings going back to 2022; the property changed from bank use to a restaurant and there had been no accurate final reading at closing, he said. Town staff conducted a spot reading for a February sample and produced an estimate; "we estimate that... you're probably in the 6 months you were open, could have used anywhere from 30 to 35,000," staff told the board.
After discussion the Select Board voted to abate the account to the staff-recommended lower estimate. Staff said they will continue to improve meter-reading processes and consider technology upgrades to avoid repeat incidents.
