Linda Beach tot lot design narrowed; council approved $400,000 budget with $100,000 donation, outreach set for early November
Summary
Parks staff said City Council approved $400,000 for the Linda Beach top‑lot tot lot replacement (including a $100,000 PBF donation). Staff will pursue community outreach in early November, aim to release bids around February and consider supplier turnkey options to compress schedule.

Nancy, the city’s parks and projects manager, told the commission that City Council approved a $400,000 budget for replacing the aging play equipment at the Linda Beach top lot, and that $100,000 of that total is a donation from PBF tied to the earlier master‑plan work. “So where we are right now is, we have a 400,000 budget that was approved by city council. $100,000 of that is the PBF donation,” Nancy said.
Staff and the project’s small group reviewed three or four suppliers who returned designs; the group is weighing whether to program the space as multiple sensory/inclusive zones or a single, more concentrated structure to maximize activity in the small footprint. Nancy and the commission discussed ADA access routes, matting options, installation costs (manufacturers often handle installation), and public outreach plans (in‑person sessions in English and Spanish plus an online component) expected in early November. The team hopes to have materials to bid by February and stressed that turnkey supplier contracts could shorten procurement and installation timelines.
