Piedmont hires Jonae Gonzalez as recreation coordinator for sports

Shelley introduced Jonae Gonzalez as the commission’s new full‑time recreation coordinator for sports. Gonzalez said she graduated from Piedmont High School in 2014, played college basketball on scholarship, and spent time playing professionally overseas before returning to local recreation work.
“I graduated from Piedmont High in 2014, and then I went on to Sonoma State on a basketball and academic scholarship,” Gonzalez said, describing her path through college and pro play. Shelley told commissioners Gonzalez will lead middle‑school athletics, youth sports and adult sports and asked the commission to be supportive as she settles into the role.
