Shelley, the recreation department staff lead, told the Piedmont Recreation Commission on Oct. 16 that the department’s fall slate is drawing strong participation, including a sold‑out trivia night at 801 Magnolia and a movie in the park on Friday, Oct. 18. “Our last movie in the park of the season is this Friday, which is the 18th, and that movie will start about 06:45,” Shelley said during her report.
The department also announced family events through the remainder of the year: a Halloween carnival and costume parade on Oct. 27 from 2 to 4 p.m., a costume swap at 5:30 p.m. before the movie screening, and Lights Up Piedmont scheduled for Dec. 4 with a new earlier start time of 6 p.m. Shelley asked commissioners to help publicize the schedule and encouraged residents to register for adult offerings like Mixology on Nov. 6 via the city’s Community Pass system.
