City Engineer Glenn Davis said greening work has started at the Addison Vance property in the Smoke Rise–Hartman area and that some trees were removed ahead of schedule to meet a habitat-related deadline. Davis said the activity may have appeared sudden but was timed to satisfy regulatory or habitat constraints and that most projects remain on track.
“Sometimes they were a little bit early, but they were trying to get them down to meet those deadlines,” Davis said when explaining the tree removals. He offered to answer questions from committee members; none were raised beyond one clarification about visibility from the highway and whether more trees would come down.
