Committee advances Lead Service Verification Phase II to comply with EPA inventory deadline

The Public Service Committee unanimously voted to forward an ordinance to Council authorizing bids and a construction contract for Lead Service Verification Phase II. City Engineer Glenn Davis told the Committee the EPA requires a physical verification of all lead-containing materials by the end of 2027, after which the City will include a replacement schedule in the Capital Budget.
Davis said Phase II completes the inventory work so the City can identify locations with lead materials and plan for replacements over a 10-year horizon. Council Member Zach Berger made the motion to advance the legislation; Council Member Chris Maxwell seconded and the motion carried.
