City to use $150,000 allocation for Bird Park sidewalks; $30,000 set for senior assistance

Planning Director Jeff Kaiser told the committee the city expects a $150,000 allocation that will be used primarily for sidewalk and ADA curb-cut improvements in and around Bird Park, which he described as located in a predominantly low-to-moderate-income census block group. Kaiser said the remaining roughly $30,000 would continue the Senior Assistance Program, which the city administers with the Center for Older Adults and St. Vincent de Paul to reimburse qualifying Wadsworth residents for emergency rent or utility payments and to help fund a lunch voucher program for qualified seniors.
Kaiser said application materials are due to the county on May 1 and staff will submit a prioritized project list. “We would get a $150,000 allocation, the bulk of which would be used to make sidewalk and ADA curb cut improvements in and around Bird Park,” Kaiser said. Committee members did not object to the proposed uses and asked staff to continue outreach to potential applicants and partners.
