Dr. Lee reminded trustees that HB1525 and SB9 require the committee to review and recommend materials and said the committee had heard presentations from the Safer Path Family Violence Shelter. "House bill 1525 and senate bill 9 require the health and wellness committee to review and make recommendations about curriculum related to prevention of child abuse, family violence, and reproductive health," Dr. Lee said. He emphasized that proposed presentations are parent opt‑in and that materials will be posted on the district website for review.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about presenters and session formats and heard that Safer Path would deliver the high‑school dating violence presentation and that parents could opt to attend or review materials online. Marshall Fleer moved to accept the administration's recommendation; Bonner Reed seconded. The board approved the recommendation by show of hands, 7–0.
What happens next: approved materials will replace the existing presentation for the high school dating‑violence module and the district will post curriculum materials and opt‑in instructions on its website.
