County staff presented an appropriation request from Cumberland County Public Schools at the May 12 board meeting and the board approved the funding.
Mrs. Cruz (county staff) told the board the package included three grants totaling $245,494.40: a $15,494.40 summer regional covered-school grant, a $30,000 Year Up Longwood grant, and a $200,000 school construction assistance program grant. She noted the appropriation did not require additional local funds. After a motion and a second, the board voted aye to approve the appropriation.
Staff and the school system said the funds will be routed through the appropriate accounts and that no additional local appropriation was required beyond the action taken.
