The Floresville Independent School District board approved the 2025–26 school calendar after staff presented two options and summarized a staff survey showing broad support for a hybrid model.
Dr. Wade told trustees the district received 293 survey responses and that most staff preferred "hybrid option 2," which sets 164 student days and daily minutes at 470 to meet the required annual instructional minutes. "With these parameters...164 student days, which compares to 169 days this current year," Wade said, adding teacher days would be 178 and that the district must meet 75,600 total minutes.
The proposed calendar starts school on August 12, uses five‑day weeks early in semesters and then shifts to regular 4‑day weeks after the first grading period, and identifies 18 non‑holiday Fridays for which childcare will be provided for Pre‑K through 5th grade. After discussion, Dr. Joe Odom moved to accept the administration's recommendation; Miss Liana Martinez seconded. The board approved the calendar by show of hands, 7–0.
What happens next: the district will publish the detailed refrigerator calendar and distribute it to families; staff and administrators will finalize bell schedules and childcare logistics for identified Fridays.
