Superintendent highlights Veterans Day, band state trip, staffing and enrollment

Superintendent Dr. Gilstrap opened his report by thanking ROTC, the band and campus staff for Veterans Day activities and announced the Mighty Tiger Band will advance to state competition at the Alamodome on Nov. 13. "They're gonna perform at the Alamodome at 01:30 in the afternoon," he said while inviting the community to attend.
Dr. Gilstrap gave an enrollment snapshot showing roughly 4,064 students and said year-to-date attendance is holding above 94%. He told trustees the facility task force met with bond counsel and engineering staff on possible projects and introduced Officer Alberto Sanchez as a new member of the FISD police department with roughly 15 years' experience; the addition brings the district police force to full staffing across campuses, he said.
