Health and Human Services Agency Director Ira W. asked commissioners to approve a contract to strengthen child-welfare team capacity and temporarily supply workforce support while vacancies are filled.
"We're asking that you approve a contract that will help us with child welfare team capacity building," Ira said, describing a three-part contract that includes process development, efficiency improvements and interim staff to handle caseloads. He told the board the county currently has "about a 143, children in foster care," and that the contract aims to shore up capacity until permanent hires are in place.
Commissioners voiced broad support for the measure, noting rising foster-care caseloads and the need to invest in staff capacity. The board approved the contract after a motion and second with no recorded opposition.
