The Vernon County Finance Committee voted unanimously June 17 to recommend that the full County Board reallocate up to $47,197.50 from 2024 Ho-Chunk contingency project funds to support the Vernon County Domestic Violence Reduction Initiative after the program lost federal grant funding.
"The Vernon County Domestic Violence Reduction Initiative has lost its federal grant funding due to cuts by the federal government. The Public Safety Committee has unanimously recommended that the Finance Committee approve this resolution for County Board consideration. Motion by Supv Pedretti, seconded by Supv Jacobson to 'approve a resolution to reallocate up to $47,197.50 of the 2024 Ho-Chunk contingency project funds as the funding source for this program, and forward to the full Board with a recommendation for approval,' on a voice vote, all voting in favor, the motion carried," the minutes state.
The minutes do not list the specific projects that would be curtailed to free the contingency funds, nor do they record a discussion of alternative funding sources; the reallocation was recommended by the Public Safety Committee and will proceed to the full Board for final approval.
