Piedmont welcomes climate action fellow to help compile GHG inventory and boost electrification outreach

Piedmont introduced its new 24–25 Climate Action Fellow, Andrew Kaplowitz, in the council meeting's opening presentation. Kaplowitz said he joins the city through the Sustainability Service Corps and will focus on projects that help the city track and reduce emissions.
Kaplowitz, who recently graduated from the University of Michigan and moved here from New York, outlined core tasks for his term, including data work and resident outreach. "I'm really looking forward to some of my key projects such as compiling the annual greenhouse gas inventory, as well as assisting and incentivizing residents with our public electrification programs, such as our electrification rebate program, as well as our induction cooktop lending program," he said. Staff said Kaplowitz will also contribute to outreach and writing for the city's Climate Corner and the Piedmont Post.
Council members welcomed the appointment and noted the fellow will provide staff capacity to help implement the city's climate action priorities over the coming months. No formal action was required for the introduction; Kaplowitz's term will run through the end of July under the Sustainability Service Corps placement.
