Eric (Vashon Morey) announced the Vashon Island School District is preparing a grant application to the Washington Department of Commerce for solar panels and battery storage at Vashon High School and said the grant window closes on Nov. 4. He said the community group is assisting with outreach and that community engagement points are part of the grant scoring.
Because of the tight deadline members moved to suspend the usual notice rules (requiring a supermajority under the bylaws); the suspension was approved and the council voted to ask the board to draft a letter of support. Eric said he expects the council to be contacted about next steps and offered to convene more details at a future meeting for broader community input.
